It’s been a while since everything was awesome. Five long years after Emmet and his pals stole our hearts in THE LEGO MOVIE, they’re back to do it again. THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART picks up where the first part left off, and finds Chris Pratt’s Emmet, Elizabeth Banks’ Wyldstyle, and the rest of the gang faced with a new threat: invaders from space!

If you thought the first LEGO MOVIE had a mega-sized cast, just wait until THE SECOND PART. Before the highly-anticipated sequel hits theaters, we put together this handy guide to all the new and returning characters – including the new villains.

Familiar Faces

Obviously, you can’t have a LEGO MOVIE sequel without Chris Pratt’s character Emmet Brickowski. The unlikely hero has found a purpose in life, with the help of his lady friend (and fellow hero) Wyldstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks.

They’ll be joined once again by their ragtag crew of super pals, including actual superheroes like Batman (Will Arnett), Superman (Channing Tatum), Green Lantern (Jonah Hill), and Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders). There’s also Princess Unikitty (Alison Brie), Benny the astronaut (Charlie Day), and Metal Beard the pirate (Nick Offerman).

Bigger Bad Guys

So who are these invaders from another planet? They’re giant, carnivorous block-creatures from the planet DUPLO, and they’re determined to destroy everything in LEGOLAND. For those who aren’t familiar, DUPLO is LEGO’s brand of larger-sized building blocks for smaller children, which is why these alien invaders sound like toddlers. But who put them here?

In the universe of THE LEGO MOVIE, we know that The Man Upstairs (Will Ferrell) is an actual human man with children, and they’re the ones who control LEGOLAND. So is there a new kid wreaking havoc on Emmet and his friends, or what?

A Familiar Voice…

Unfortunately, all of Emmet’s friends have been taken hostage by the DUPLO aliens, and he’s going to need some serious help to get them back. As seen (and heard) in the official trailers for THE LEGO MOVIE 2, Chris Pratt is voicing not one, but two heroes in the sequel.

The second one is Rex Dangervest, a character who seems like a combination of every awesome Kurt Russell role from the ’80s — and Pratt’s character from the JURASSIC WORLD movies. Rex even has highly-trained velociraptors! (And one of them does not like Mondays.)

New Friends… And More Foes

Tiffany Haddish brings her comedic talents to the world of LEGO as Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi. She’s the shape-shifting alien queen of the Systar System, where Emmet travels to rescue his friends. Stephanie Beatriz (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE) voices General Sweet Mayhem, an evil intergalactic mini-doll. She kidnapped Emmet’s friends under the orders of Queen Watevra. Arturo Castro (BROAD CITY) voices Ice Cream Cone, a citizen of the Systar System.

DC Comics character Harley Quinn also joins the LEGO MOVIE universe. Even better, Margot Robbie reprises her role from SUICIDE SQUAD. (Though it’s unclear whose side she’ll be on if The Joker isn’t around.) Finally, SNL veteran Maya Rudolph has a voice role in THE LEGO MOVIE 2, but the details of her character are being kept top secret. Does The Man Upstairs (Will Ferrell) have a Woman Upstairs? Or is her character an even bigger surprise?
