Dragon Ball Super: Super-Sized!
We have become accustom to ground-breaking presentations from major studios like Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros Studios and Marvel Studios, but it was the presence of Crunchy Roll and their theatrical film, DRAGON BALL SUPER: SUPER HERO that made a huge impact around San Diego.
With its mega-marketing and loyal fan base, the Dragon Ball franchise is set to take to the big screen this August. Distributed by Crunchy Roll - join Goku, Piccolo and crew as they confront a new evil in DRAGON BALL SUPER: SUPER HERO. As we learned during the panel from Toshio Furukawa and Christopher Sabat, the feature film is ”all about Piccolo And Gohan.”
We met up with Bandai Namco, a leader in distribution of collectibles, toys and games about the excitement for the anime feature film. During our discussion with brand rep, Justin Cavendar, he shared how the popularity of anime has grown.
“And now with the movies being released in Japan first and then coming to the states and there being both a subtitled version and a dubbed version, I just think the accessibility is that huge factor and it’s great for us. Being a Japanese Imported toy company, it is great for people to capitalize upon that excitement.”

FURY OF THE GODS cast, including Zachary Levi amused and teased the crowd with spoilers and updates on the Shazam-ily. However, it was newcomers Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren who play the Evil Sisters that got the crowd excited with their subtle jabs at Levi. Similar to the original movie, the tone of the sequel is lighthearted as Shazam is still learning his purpose as a superhero and brother.
