Jason Statham's Favorite Hobbs & Shaw Scene

With a movie like FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW, you need to have those big set pieces that wow the crowd and really put the pedal to the metal. It’s practically built into the name of the franchise, and it’s a staple that hasn’t been ignored as of yet.
Sitting down with star Jason Statham during a recent press junket, we found out about his favorite scene in the upcoming HOBBS & SHAW. When asked about the huge action sequence set in a disused Ukrainian power plant, Statham excitedly talked about how much he enjoyed that part of the film.
"It’s a great location. I mean that whole sequence is, for me, my most memorable, it really was. The real scale of that high-tech sort of facility — you know, we’re in the Rock Crawler. We flipped the thing upside down; we’re skidding around in it; Hattie’s jumping from the thing. It’s just a great sort of moment. For these sort of big popcorn films, we need that sort of big, jaw-dropping spectacle."
Jaw-dropping spectacle is something that HOBBS & SHAW provides, as the trailers have shown nothing other than awe-inspiring action, and buddy cop-style comedy, that should have fans revved up for the first spinoff in the FAST & FURIOUS world.
Re-teaming Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw with Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, HOBBS & SHAW sees the two welcoming Deckard’s sister, Hattie (Vanessa Kirby), into their crime-stopping unit, as they try to thwart the vicious Brixton (Idris Elba) in his plot to steal a lethal virus for some shadowy business.
It definitely sounds more like a spy movie, but HOBBS & SHAW certainly looks like it hasn’t forgotten its roots in the franchise that's presenting its antics. As Statham himself has attested to, there’s plenty of hand-to-hand and vehicular action that will fill the running time of the new summer blockbuster.
While that Ukraine set piece has plenty to talk about, the streets of London and the tropics of Hawaii are also important settings in HOBBS & SHAW, which means that they too will incur some property damage at the hands of this new trio of adventurous heroes. And should this film do well enough at the box office, we might just see more adventures in this new spinoff's potentially prosperous future.
HOBBS & SHAW races onto screens everywhere on August 2, and you can get tickets now to see it at your local AMC theatre!
