Bloodshot Is Set To Make (and Remake) Memories With Audiences
Do you ever feel like you’ve been somewhere before and have done the exact same thing you’re doing now, down to the last detail, in another moment? Déjà vu is a phenomenon most of us are familiar with, and it runs deep through the pop culture landscape, including in the upcoming BLOODSHOT.
Vin Diesel’s character in the new Sony movie is going through his own version of GROUNDHOG DAY — only with much more blood, and no friendly rodents to drive him mad.
Diesel plays Ray Morrison, a U.S. marine killed alongside his beloved wife, Gina (Talulah Riley). Through the brilliance of the latest scientific advantages at a mysterious company known as RST, Ray is brought back to life, stronger and better than ever. Through his new handler, the charming Dr. Emil Harting (Guy Pearce), Ray is sent on the ultimate mission of payback: to kill the people who murdered him and his late wife.
The only problem is BLOODSHOT sees Vin Diesel’s new hero being duped into thinking he’s only done this once, as his memories are wiped after each hit and he’s reprogrammed with a new memory that provides him with a new target. So, that déjà vu he's experiencing is more than a funny feeling. It's an insidious plot to wipe out a bunch of targets with no questions asked.
Based on the Valiant Comics title of the same name, BLOODSHOT is looking to create a new franchise for the ever popular Diesel to act like a huge wrecking machine. It’s also the potential gateway to a brand-new cinematic universe, as plenty of other Valiant Comics-branded stories are waiting to see if this particular outing is a hit.
Co-starring Lamorne Morris, Sam Heughan and Eiza González, BLOODSHOT is aiming to become another memorable experience with moviegoers, while at the same time avoiding the usual formula that modern-day comic movies seem to follow... which means that not only do superhero fans get a new hero to root for, but also the market of such stories will have a better incentive to step things up and compete with the sort of high-powered action BLOODSHOT is bringing to the masses.
And with powers that depend on regeneration and strength enhancement through nanotechnology, you can bet that Vin Diesel’s Ray Morrison is bringing a lot to the table. In another busy year at the box office, it’s nice to see freshman candidates like BLOODSHOT striking for glory.
BLOODSHOT opens in theatres everywhere on March 13. In the meantime, don't forget that you can set a reminder for when tickets go on sale at an AMC near you!
