Catch These Summer Movies While You Can

August 24th, 2023Catch These Summer Movies While You Can

For some, the ending of the summer means a nice change of pace to our daily routines and a much-needed escape from the harsh heat. For others, it means the end of, arguably, the most important time of the year for the movies – for general audiences, at least. However, there is still plenty of time to catch up on some of the season’s biggest releases.

Those who still have not seen Tom Cruise’s latest death-defying stunts in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE, or got spooked by one of the year’s scariest horror movies – TALK TO ME – or partook in the colossal “BARBENHEIMER” double feature trend, never fear. These titles are still playing in AMC Theatres locations across the country. We’ll point you in the right direction with this guide to the must-see flicks you should be sure to check out before the 2023 summer movie season ends.

Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny

This summer, Harrison Ford proved that it is never too late to embark on a thrilling, globetrotting adventure in his fifth time playing daredevil archaeologist, Indiana Jones, who must team up with his goddaughter (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) in another race against the Nazis for a priceless, possibly mystical, artifact. It is also not too late to see director James Mangold’s INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY on the big screen, at AMC Theatres, so be sure to check your local showtimes for this thrilling new installment of the iconic franchise.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

Ethan Hunt and his crew have returned for another assignment so big that it must be split into two parts and demands to be seen on the largest screen possible. That is the best way to experience the latest of Tom Cruise’s crazy stunts, so your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to flock to the theatre for a showing of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE while you still can.

You cannot claim to have seen every comic book movie to hit theatres this summer if you have not seen first-time director Randall Park’s adaptation of cartoonist Adrian Tomine’s acclaimed graphic novel, “Shortcomings.” Be sure to check local showtimes to make sure your AMC Theatres location is showing this 2023 Sundance Film Festival hit, which is a funny, thought-provoking hidden gem about the complicated road to self-discovery from the point of view of three young, Asian-American New Yorkers.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

For the first time in the enduring franchise’s history, the world’s favorite talking, crimefighting reptiles are voiced by an actual cast of teens in this animated adventure from producer Seth Rogen. Based on the praise that TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM has already earned from long-time fans of Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael, you might end up calling yourself a fan after seeing it for yourself.

Talk To Me

The feature debut of directors Danny and Michael Philippou – in which a game involving contact with the spirit world backfires horribly on a group of teens – conjured enough success for A24 to greenlight a sequel very quickly after its release. See what captivating thrills you may have been missing out on in this Australian instant horror classic by catching TALK TO ME on the big screen.

Haunted Mansion

For younger audiences not quite ready for anything as scary as TALK TO ME, Disney has just the right star-studded, creepy comedy you have been looking for. Based on the iconic theme park attraction, director Justin Simien’s HAUNTED MANSION is a perfect way for families to celebrate Halloween just a little bit earlier this year.

After witnessing her journey to the real world, you will never be able to look at the world’s most famous toy doll the same way again. Perhaps that was Academy Award®-nominated co-writer and director Greta Gerwig’s intention for the hilarious and surprisingly thought-provoking BARBIE, starring Margot Robbie in the title role – well one of them, at least – and a bleach blonde Ryan Gosling as Ken.

Whether or not you choose to pair your showing of BARBIE with the entirely different OPPENHEIMER, you will still be guaranteed an unforgettable experience watching the latest and, arguably, most ambitious effort by writer and director Christopher Nolan. Telling the story of how the atomic bomb came to be from the perspective of its morally conflicted creator, this biopic bears a stunning ensemble led by Cillian Murphy in the title role, a gripping non-linear narrative, and a climax that will impress.
