Yippee-ki-yay, movie lovers! The original DIE HARD is coming back to the big screen for a special 30th anniversary event. On November 11 and 14 only, you can experience the Oscar®-nominated action thriller, plus get exclusive insight from Turner Classic Movies, at an AMC near you.
High above the city of L.A. on Christmas Eve, a team of terrorists has seized a building, taken hostages and declared war. One man has managed to escape, an off-duty cop hiding somewhere inside. He’s alone, tired and the only chance anyone has got. The odds are against John McClane (Bruce Willis) — that’s just the way he likes it.
DIE HARD has consistently been named one of the best action and Christmas films of all time, though Willis insisted the film is not a Christmas movie. In an interview with /Film, screenwriter Steven E. de Souza said:
“It ticks several genre boxes. I know people say it’s an action movie, but there’s a lot of suspense in it. It’s as much a thriller as it is an action movie. When you think about it, the limited landscape almost fights the idea of it being an action movie, which usually has wide open spaces, a lot of running around, car chases, so on and so forth. There’s also a love story, there’s a lot of humor in it. In the Venn diagram of popular film genres, it covers several.”
Regardless of genre, DIE HARD has remained a fan favorite for three decades. So, come out to your local AMC; we’ll get together, have a few laughs, for the DIE HARD 30th anniversary event. Get your tickets today.
