Captain Marvel in Infinity War?

Is it a bird, is it a plane? Nope, wrong universe, but is the MCU finally confirming the arrival of Captain Marvel in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War? As we assemble an impressive roster of heroes and villains to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MCU, Disney is still yet to release a full cast list.
While the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man are all expected to be big players, Comicbook fans are all ready to "Marvel" at Brie Larson suiting up as Carol Danvers. There has been no news on what role Captain Marvel will play in the upcoming third and fourth Avengers film — if at all — but could all that be about to change?
Get Your Sh*t Together, Carol
We already know that the superhero ensemble will team Spider-Man with Doctor Strange and that the Guardians of the Galaxy will quite literally be bumping into Thor, but Larson's involvement is all hearsay (or so we thought). Taking to Instagram, Captain Marvel's co-director Ryan Fleck shared a snap of some Air Force cadets. Some say that it could just be scouting for the film, but with filming not due to begin until January, could this be for Infinity War instead?
The US Air Force is an integral part of the Danvers backstory, and while the MCU will likely switch up her origin story to fit with their universe, expect some parts of the tale to remain the same. It could just be a coincidence, but the Air Force cropped up again when Project Casting posted an open audition for Infinity War:
Military Officers: Looking for men who appear to be 30’s-early 50’s, in good physical shape, to portray officers of various rankings. Must have short hair or be willing to get a military haircut. NO Facial Hair! Military experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Filming will be Monday 8/28 with a mandatory fitting the week of August 14th- must be available for both!
Larson was announced as the patriotic heroine over a year ago, but we are still yet to hear much about the character other than a possible haircut and some costume designs. With the Captain Marvel solo film neatly slotting in between Infinity War and Avengers4, it would make sense that the first part of the saga at least teases the arrival of Danvers. While we don't expect Captain Marvel to play a major part in the jam-packed feature, saving her for a post-credits scene would be one way to keep bums on seats for the film's climax.
Given the way in which the likes of Spider-Man and Black Panther were subtly assigned as honorary Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, the Mcu could easily follow suit to give us Captain Marvel. Even if Larson doesn't fly her way into the ranks of the Avengers, expect the character to be taking off sooner rather than later!
