November 20th, 2017Kimmel Receives Epic Birthday Gift

There's been a lot of speculation regarding Ben Affleck's involvement in the DCEU as Batman throughout the past few weeks. But we shouldn't worry too much if he ends up leaving the franchise, because the actor may have found the perfect superhero part.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently recently aired a special episode to celebrate Jimmy Kimmel's 50th birthday. With Justice League right around the corner, Ben Affleck appeared as a guest to promote the superhero epic. Putting aside the talks about his role in the Dceu, the actor brought along a really cool birthday surprise...

During the interview, Affleck jokingly revealed that, in the midst of Justice League shifting schedules, he managed to squeeze in another superhero project:

Interesting thing about [Justice League], this movie shifted schedule, some actor availability dropped [...] and Star Wars pushed, I don't know if you know this, but created some additional availability. So I was able to start this really, really exciting superhero project that's my next thing, and it's awesome.

Following Affleck's explanation, J.J. Abrams appeared on screen. The director surprised Kimmel with a comic book that the host wrote as a kid, titled "The Terrific Ten," centered around a team of 10 peculiar superheroes. As one of the most awesome birthday presents ever, Abrams and Affleck decided to turn Kimmel's comic book into a film trailer, and the result was hilarious:

Yep, I'm not at all surprised that Matt Damon played the ultimate bad guy in Kimmel's story. Aside from Damon, the trailer was packed with other celebrities , such as Jennifer Aniston (Laser Lass), Jason Bateman (Bendolite), Zack Galifanakis (Super Duck), Billy Crudup (Color Kid), Shaquille O'Neal (Spire), Ty Burrell (Mirgiv), fellow Batman Will Arnett (Meinstrom), Jon Hamm (Lucky Lad), Cousin Sal (Super Sal), Ben Affleck (Muscle Man), and Wanda Sykes (The Bleach Master).

Seeing some of Hollywood's most popular celebrities bringing to life a story you dreamt up as a kid has got to be one of the most awesome things ever. Understandably, Kimmel was beyond excited by the trailer, as he told Abrams and Affleck:

Wow... That was the best gift I ever got. Unbelievable. Thank you, J.J. Abrams, thank you, Ben Affleck. Muscle Man, I imagined myself in that role, but you were unbelievable.

This is probably never going to happen, but I would totally be up for Hollywood using this trailer as the basis for a feature-length parody on the superhero genre. Good job, Affleck and Co.

If you want to see Ben Affleck on the big screen as the Caped Crusader once again, Justice League will hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
